I’ve always lusted over beautiful Adirondack chairs. I finally pulled the trigger in 2020 and decided on the Polywood Modern Adirondack chairs in navy. Here’s my experience having these chairs in our backyard for two years, through every season and storm!
In this review of the Plywood Modern Adirondack chairs, I will answer the following questions:
When looking for any outdoor furniture , I look for three things:
My Polywood Modern Adirondack chairs fit the bill exactly!
According to the Polywood website, POLYWOOD furniture is “made using recycled plastic. Constructed of genuine POLYWOOD® lumber, a proprietary material which includes landfill-bound and ocean-bound plastics.” It is also made in the USA. ??
Yes, absolutely! These chairs have weathered blizzards, tropical storms, Fall leaves, crazy pollen, bird poop, and more. They still look brand new.

Yes, absolutely. We have tried various types of outdoor furniture from Crate & Barrel, Target, and other brands, and the Polywood chairs have weathered the worst (we NEVER take them inside!) and look the best!
There are slightly cheaper options of copycat chairs on sites like Overstock and Wayfair, but if you have to throw them, out after a year or two, is it really worth saving an extra $50 or $100? No! At the time of this posting, Amazon is selling the navy chairs for $289 each. Amazon sells the same modern Adirondack chairs in slate gray for $249.
This is an easy one to answer — you don’t really need to, especially if your chairs are not under trees collecting leaves, dirt, and bird poop. I haven’t attempted to wipe down the chairs in at least 6 months, and they look like this.

They survive season after season, requiring MINIMAL cleaning and maintenance (we wipe them down MAYBE twice a year? Definitely when a bird poops on them!).
When I HAVE cleaned the chairs, I use either a wet towel or this multipurpose outdoor furniture spray.

If you like spending time outdoors, Polywood Adirondack chairs are a no-brainer. Comfortable, beautiful, and completely maintenance free, you’ll buy them once and have them forever. I can’t imagine them not looking good in decades to come.
